Today's Teens, Tomorrow's Leaders
We are living in an age of information. Today, more than 85% of Americans are connected to the internet. The Lord has led us to utilize this resource to help parents and those who minister to teens. One of the ways we will accomplish this is through the new media of net-casts (A net-cast or podcast is a pre-recorded audio file that a user can download through the internet and listen to at their leisure).
Today’s Teen, Tomorrow’s Leader is the name of a net-cast we are ready to produce in which we will discuss the various issues facing today’s teen. In the net-cast, we will describe the issue as well as how the youth worker and parent can deal with the issue from a Biblical perspective. The format of this net-cast will be much like a radio talk show. There will be a host and one or more guests. Some of the topics we may discuss include:
- The perils of modern dating.
- Cutters: the causes and cures.
- The dangers of enforcing standards on kids without teaching the ‘why’ behind the standard.
- The dangers of hypocrisy in the life of the parent.
- The importance of the family alter.
- Modesty: the danger of immodest attire.
- Modesty: an issue of the heart.
- “Twilight” and other occult movies.
- Work For It—the effect of immediate gratification and why teens need to work for it, whatever “it” is.
- “Cyber relationships”
- SMS and the decay of social skills.
- Teens and cell phones.
- Missions and youth—how teens can participate in a missions program.
- Many other topics.
We need your help. To be as effective as possible, we must have a diverse base of guests and topics. We need your input and viewpoint, not just our own. We are looking for men who are experienced in the ministry, who are of like faith and practice and willing to invest a little time once or twice a year to discuss one of many topics facing today’s teens to better equip tomorrow’s leaders.
